Located between the Danube, Alps and foggy valleys, the Sauwald, the “roof of the Innviertel” has a long tradition of craftsmanship. This is also the case in Kopfing im Innkreis, where Martin Koller, son of a shoemaking dynasty, did not want to accept the fact that “healthy shoes look so terribly ugly”. And so he did everything differently. Well thought out, from start to finish. To this end, he founded the brand Think!
The foundation stone for today's company was laid by Martin Koller's grandfather. He had settled in Kopfing to open a shoemaker's workshop here. At the end of the 1950s, Martin Koller senior, father of the Think! founder of the same name, expanded the workshop into a factory for men's shoes. This grew and grew. At the end of the 1980s, it was Martin Koller Jr.'s turn - he was to take over the company. And he was torn. He was fascinated by the craft, he loved it. But men's shoes and healthy but ugly slippers? He began to think. And in 1991 he brought Think! shoes onto the market for the first time: environmentally friendly and individual, high-quality and fairly produced, healthy and chic at the same time.
At Think! we wanted to do things differently. In the beginning, we were eyed critically for this. Nevertheless, Martin Koller stuck to his vision - and continued on his path undeterred. It was by no means always straight ahead, there were curves, detours, stumbling blocks. But it is the right path for us. Individuality, self-confidence and the opportunity to express oneself freely are elementary at Think! Our shoes have personality. They are colourful, distinctive, well thought-out, unusual, never boring. And in any case unmistakable. So they fit exactly to the people who wear them.
Since 2000, Think! has been part of legero united. Under this umbrella, shoes are designed and developed for the brands legero, superfit, Think! in Feldkirchen near Graz and Kopfing. As a global company, legero united sells shoes in more than 40 countries and has its own production facilities in Hungary, Romania and India.
For over 30 years, we at Think! have been living sustainability, the joy of design and social commitment. We want to make shoes that are good for everyone - our customers, employees and nature. To achieve this, we use environmentally friendly materials sourced in Europe wherever possible. The majority of the leather we use, for example, comes from Italy. Think! shoes are developed in Austria and produced exclusively in Europe. We work with long-term production partners in Bosnia, Hungary, Romania and Italy. Fair working conditions, environmental protection and quality are our top priorities, regardless of the location. We work with certified workshops and support environmental and social projects. We were the first shoe manufacturer to be awarded both the Austrian Eco-label and the Blue Angel for our commitment to sustainability. This makes us proud - and equally motivates us to continue on our path.
We place the highest value on careful quality and individual design. On fair, sustainable and ecologically conscious production conditions, on durable, pleasant materials, real handicraft and unusual details. On colours that are as colourful as the people who wear them. On anatomically adapted shapes and many years of expertise. Only the best is good enough. We do not orient ourselves to the status quo, but to our very own principles of quality and design. Because Slow Fashion is really concerned with products, it is allowed for something to break during all the adventures that shoes go on. And of course it will be repaired.
We attach great importance to every single work step and combine the highest standards of craftsmanship with the most modern industrial production methods. Shoes that meet our strict criteria are made by hand in up to 200 work steps from the highest quality materials. Shoes that have so much potential in them that we want to make them even better with innovative materials and technologies.
We take responsibility for ourselves and for our environment. That's why we produce our handmade shoes in Europe - fairly, in a way that protects the environment and resources, and with short transport routes. We use almost exclusively natural materials and thus do not take more from the environment than we can give back. Because at Think!, the topic of sustainability doesn't just stop at production, it runs through our entire corporate philosophy.
Times change, values remain. In order to be able to meet the challenges of the future responsibly, the topic of sustainability is more topical than ever. Clever design combines sophisticated design with careful quality. We are not satisfied with the first best. Because joy is the most important thing we can produce.
