Healthy shoes - How to recognise them

Shoes accompany us through our entire lives. We run after the bus or children in them, cover many thousands of kilometres in them, brave the elements or sit for hours in warm offices. We spend up to 14 hours a day in them. That's why you shouldn't skimp on shoes. But how can you recognise a healthy shoe?

Careful selection of materials

The quality of a shoe stands and falls with the material. It is important for a healthy shoe that natural materials are used. It is not without reason that most shoes are made of leather inside and out. Leather is hard-wearing, flexible, supple, moisture-absorbent and breathable. This means: dry, healthy feet and thus an optimal foot climate. The be-all and end-all for good shoes.

But not all leather is the same?

You can immediately recognise good leather by the pressure test. How does it work? Press both thumbs firmly into the leather. If wrinkles form, then the material is not first-class. Not so with Think! We only use natural, high-quality materials - out of conviction.

That's why we use leather that is either vegetable or chrome-free tanned in 85% of our shoes. These forms of tanning in particular are characterised by the fact that no chrome salts are used. This means that allergic reactions can be avoided. But it is not only with the leathers that we take care not to use allergenic substances. For example, only nickel-free materials are used for our rivets and jewellery that come into contact with the skin.

Shoes made by hand

Another characteristic of healthy shoes is the workmanship. Think! shoes are carefully handcrafted in up to 200 steps. So everything feels smooth and supple. Seams and zips must be set correctly to avoid pressure points.

The outsole must be shockproof, insulating and flexible. We already pay attention to this in the design. Our shoes are breathable and durable and fit the foot perfectly.

Sufficient space for the feet

Everything has to fit: It is essential that the shoe fits and gives the foot enough space. The toes must not bump against the front, the heel needs firm support and the instep needs flexibility. At Think! we make sure right from the start that tendons, muscles and joints have enough space with an anatomically correct fit.

Heels & healthy shoes, how does that go together?

At Think! we always try to support the natural curve of the foot. That's why we don't have very flat shoes and our heel heights are a minimum of 3.5 cm. This ensures that the metatarsal and tarsal bones are well positioned and that the weight is optimally distributed between the front and back of the foot. This is a decisive factor for a good and healthy posture and physical complaints can thus be avoided.
